HeyCandy.ph is a WordPress eCommerce website selling dresses, earrings and accessories in the Philippines. We received an urgent call from the client needing help to fix issues a few days before Christmas, when online shoppers are busy buying products online.
Problem
- The WordPress website loads very slow
- All the product images and product prices are missing throughout the website.
Step-by-step process to diagnose and fix the issues
- My primary suspects are the plugins, so I looked at them and found out there are a dozen free plugins, and some are paid ones.
- I disabled all the free plugins except for the Woocommerce and the paid versions, and it still didn’t work.
- I then updated the Woocommerce plugin, the WordPress core and the theme.
- It turns out the website is working properly again. The product images and product prices are visible.
- From here on, I worked around backwards as I reactivated the paid plugins to see if anything would break the website.
As a WordPress Developer, maintaining a WordPress website every month is important to keep it up and running. This avoids downtime and loss of money and improves customer shopping experience.
